Random Shots from Around New England

I've been up to Aroostook County, Maine. I've wandered a bit around here on the South Shore of Massachusetts. I paid a short visit to Cape Cod. I saw one thing I've never seen before and photographed something that I've been trying to see for years.

Flying Squirrel. I've never seen one in daylight before. I've watched them many times in Vermont, launching themselves off the tops of trees to glide through the air down steep hillsides.

Mount Katahdin, Maine. It sits in Baxter State Park. It's the end point of the Appalachian Trail.

Lupine

White Admiral. This is the first time I have ever seen one. Wish I got a better shot but the butterflies (there were two) just wouldn't stay still long enough.

Damselflies. The bottom pair are mating. I don't know which species this is as there are many blue damsel flies. Aroostook County, Maine.

Amber Snail. This was taken with a Lensbaby Macro lens.

Baltimore Checkerspot, Hanson, Massachusetts.
