Interlude: Nesting Season
Tree swallows are one of my favorite birds. They star in some early posts on this blog. The following two photos were taken in Fort Fairfield, Maine. This is a parent feeding one of its nestlings.

Closer to home the Grackles had an abundance of babies as did the House Sparrows, who played host to at least one Cowbird baby. One pair of starlings had two babies fond of landing on mom's head during feeding and another had one baby. The Downy Woodpeckers had at son and two daughters. The Hairy Woodpeckers had a son. The Red-Breasted Woodpeckers had a daughter.
