Turkeys in Love

This Traveler apologizes for not posting for a while. Was done in by an injury that kept me out of the field for a while. But one doesn't have to leave the confines of one's living room to be treated to something fantastic. The "Nine Ladies Who Brunch" were actively courted by two brave Toms earlier this spring. It took rather a long time for these two poor males to get the ladies attention. Days in fact. Long enough for a foot of snow to melt. The larger male was quite magnificent in his display, especially rattling his feathers so loudly it actually woke me up one morning. It's a wonderful low rattling sound but not something one usually hears right outside one's window.
