We've gotten something close to 100 inches of snow here in Eastern Massachusetts. Since public transportation is pretty much paralyzed and driving has become a giant game of chicken (because no one can see over the snow drifts), I've stayed home and photographed some frequent visitors to my back yard.

| Cooper's Hawk. Also known as the Angel of Death. She's a damned smart predator. She stalks other birds like a cat on the ground and she flies birds into my sliding glass door to kill them. I'm still trying to get over her taking one of my downy woodpeckers. I don't begrudge her all the European House Sparrows and Starlings she wants but I wish she'd leave the woodpeckers alone. |
